That Eye, The Sky
Friday, June 25 | 9:06 AM

The eye in the sun casts long shadows which we sometimes try to hide.

Some dusty town in S USA.

lost the wheel
Monday, May 17 | 10:25 PM

A member of the local law enforcer tried to stop me, a tourist, from taking a picture of the hapless vehicle. Guess who got to it first? Me or the vandal?

Great Escape
Wednesday, May 5 | 10:25 AM

After my work in school, I drove across the border for a much needed Great Escape.

as usual, I ran multi-errands at the land where humans do not operate at neck-breaking speeds.

After my RM$28 salon haircut at Holiday Plaza, I sent my Black Beauty for a snow wash at a nearby car wash place for an amazing RM$8. The friendly guys there even removed some alien scratch stripes for free! That was my dinner above while waiting for my car - RM$6+4

My last stop - Giant supermart. On the way there, I'd spotted the back alley of this row of shophouses which brought back some childhood memories.

Grocery and petrol to top up the tank - approximately RM$120.

Divide all the above costs by 2.3 and you will see why I head over to Johor Bahru on a regularly basis. ;)

CRAZY
Tuesday, November 10 | 1:23 AM

Shit happens, so they say.

First the false ceiling to the master toilet started to leak. Then the car battery went flat. These happened 2 weeks prior my departure. To add to my woes, the dogsitters played me out from time to time during my 3 month long arduous search for suitable candidates/hotels for Sprite. This is on top of my work and struggle to recover from that incessant cough from Hong Kong since 19/9.

I will pesevere!

The Beginning
Monday, November 9 | 10:08 AM

My 3 amigos for the next 3 months! My heartfelt thanks to Winston for his 70L Eagle Creek backpack and Shyen for the Northface duffel bag and for turning up last night to help me pack so that "I won't become a liabiilty for the group." for forgetting something in the midst of my hectic schedule. Haha! I truly appreciate friends who tell you like it is.

Check out the compact contents within. This morning, Shyen even emailed me stuff I've not set aside for her to pack in yesterday! I'm truly blessed.

The beauty of the duffel is that it doubles as a protection for the backpack when it tumbles and turns on the converyor belt after checking it in. Its primary function, of course, is to contain all the shopping bonanza!

Now, here's temperamental NATalie which I have to send in for repairs later today AGAIN because she cannot detect wireless or wireless connections now. And she's only less than 4 months old! Nevertheless, my deepest appreciation to whiz kid, Nathaniel Chua, for helping me install numerous cool stuff on NATalie, Debbie and Ariel.

Nesting on top of her humps (or bumps), is some chewys - courtesy of Queenie, my student - for the trip. Thanks!

Croagh Patrick
Wednesday, July 1 | 7:24 PM

18 June 2009

We took a hike up Croagh Patrick. The destination is the tip that is surrounded by clouds.

The path is strewn with rocks.

The 3 brave climbers.

Near the summit, we experienced a whiteout when the clouds descended upon the mountain. On top of that, there were 2 bouts of sudden rain which lasted about ten to fifteen minutes each. One of these sudden showers was accompanied by a brief session of hail and a mud slide followed after.

All the while, while we wound numerous times around the mountain to get to the top, the icy winds blew ferociously and beat at our poor Asian bodies unaccustomed to the cold.

At the summit, I am practically leaning against continual blasts of winds. I repeat, LEANING BACK without support! That's how strong the winds are!

lobster pot
Wednesday, June 17 | 3:02 PM

We are following Lonely Planet and AA driving guides on this drive drip around Ireland.
Lobster Pot was supposedly a nice eastery by the port town of Ssanford-something like that (I'll correct this when I get the time. Imagine the sore disappointment when we discovered that it has closed down.
The emptiness pervading the lot is the general feel when we drive into towns. Big houses scattered across vast lands but you only see a trickle of residents around. This does not apply to cities of course. Not that I don't like it - I actually appreciate the peace and quiet, like the occasional sighting of a jogger or a local out walking her dog, which is a farcry from the mad bustle of Singpore.
I'm going to miss all of this like I'm missing Sprite now. :)
Breakfast duties and I'm already late!

Road Trip Labore Makan Mayhem
Tuesday, May 5 | 10:25 AM

I took a road trip up to Malaysia over the weekend.

I had like 19 meals in one day - thanks to Joe, our KL friend who drove us around on a savoury tour.

The brown lasted a fun 24 hours before I had to give it up for a darker chocolate colour for work reasons.

The complete mayhem is found here.
