Nautical - of, relating to, or characteristic of ships, shipping, sailors, or navigation on a body of water.  Pulau Ubin, 2001. A couple of us biked to the spot near the mangrove swamp area where one female student had drowned during a freak accident. I understand that the makeshift float her group had made was unstable and she had somehow ended up in the waters. She was then sucked underwater due to the strong undercurrents created by these water gates used to divert water. This fatal accident rocked the little nation of Singapore then due to safety lapses in a school activity and also because the girl had come from a top college.  Awestruck by the sounds of surging waters, we were enjoying the solemn moment as I narrated the incident to my friends. What caught us by surprise was the sighting of this make-shift floating house/boat a little distance away. It must be riding on the fast waters from the water gates.
