Informal Culture
Friday, February 27 | 9:56 AM

Oh wow! I would love to work for President Obama.

16 Feb 2008
Informal culture
WASHINGTON: - Less than a month in office, President Barack Obama has ushered in a more informal White House culture that contrasts sharply with that of his predecessor, Mr George W. Bush.

From his dress to his schedule, Mr Obama has introduced a more informal decorum. He receives his daily intelligence and economic briefings after 9am, hours later than Mr Bush. He is also known to sometimes burn the midnight oil, a sharp difference with his notoriously early-to-bed predecessor.

Mr Obama 'is more laid back in appearance, more 24-7 in his work code,' said public affairs professor Julian Zelizer, of Princeton University.

One of the first photographs released by the Obama White House shows him sitting in the Oval Office in shirtsleeves.

'There should be a dress code of respect,' Mr Bush's first White House chief of staff Andrew Card said in a TV interview. 'I wish he would wear a suit and tie.'

At Mr Obama's first press call on Monday, the atmosphere had lost much of the tension associated with Mr Bush's interactions with the media.

'President Obama's new style is more accessible and open,' said Mr Darrell West, director of governance studies at the Brookings Institution.

Oh Jay!
Thursday, February 26 | 11:31 PM

For a good laugh, I would watch my pre-recorded episodes of Tonight Show With Jay Reno.  I truly like the way he pokes fun of real news items and statistics.  Here are some rioting good times...

Today, Obarak Obama says that the reality of becoming President is beginning to set in.  Hey, sounds like the mother-in-law has moved in.

President Obama has made very few changes to the Oval Office itself. He's keeping nearly everything President Bush had in there - same desk, same chair, same pens - well sure, the stuff's like brand new! It's hardly ever used!

This is kind of an awkward time for President Bush - he's too young to retire and yet to old to destroy the moral and economic infrasture of another country.

One of the few companies doing well, rather, during the economic crisis is MacDonalds.  MacDonalds announced an 80%  profit increase due to the recession.  They're actually making money during a recession.  Isn't that amazing?  This makes it the first recession where people lose their house, they lose their savings but by golly!  they're not gona lose their rest.  YEAH.  Times are rough honey, gotta losen the belt.  It don't make any sense. It's the only country when you're poor, you get fatter!

And Citigroup, know who they are?  They just got 45 billion dollars of our tax dollars.   See what they bought themselves? They spent 50 million on a brand new French made private jet for their private executives. It has a bar, private entertainment center, seating for 12.  If there's ever a reason they reopen Guantanamo Bay, this is it!.  You know that's our jet!  We should be taking that!  They should be taking Southwest!

The economy is so bad that geese cannot afford to fly anymore now that they've collided with an anthrax train.

A 37-year-old flight attendant is suing Jet Blue Airways after a male flight attendant she couldn't get on the plane to get to her next assignment because she wasn't dressed provocatively enough.  Her clothes were not sexy enough!  Isn't that amazing?  A STRAIGHT male flight attendant? What?!  I was shocked!  I was stunned by it.

And according British journal of psychiatry, marijuana can cause panic attacks - especially when you are almost out of marijuana.

Well, how disgusting is this?  There's no easy way to say this.  Scientists of the New York City College of Technology says that the Gowanus Canal of Brooklyn - the canal is full of gonorrhea.  There is live gonorrhea living in that canal.  How disgusting is that?  At least that's what the guys are telling their wives, "Honey, I must have fallen into the canal."

Here's a shocking statistic.  80% of men with graduate degrees admit to pleasuring themselves.  I didn't know they gave degrees for that?  Did you know?  I guess that's they call them the masters.

run free
Wednesday, February 25 | 12:13 PM

I'm rather tired today after a long day yesterday.  So this entry will be brief in explanation.  Basically the pictures below sort of sums up what I did in the earlier part of day before I started work in the afternoon.  I brought Sprite to SPCA in the hope to find a second dog to adopt.  After that, a spontaneous decision to head to a local dog-run ended up in a shopping spree for Sprite and a friend's cat at the dogmart there.  Thanks to Napaboaniya for telling me about Dog Movers and also to 2 of my ex-students, Atticus and Daryl, who had come along to keep Sprite entertained.  Enjoy.

Isn't She Lovely?
Tuesday, February 24 | 8:58 AM

Have you seen the episode on Mormon polygamists on Oprah?   Those braids, the buns and all the huge black puffy poncho trapping - they spell ultra-conservative all over.

What did you know?  It's lady controversial exiting the offices of Christian Audigier after attending a private fashion show.  Los Angeles, California. 20 Feb 2009

They say you age gracefully with many Botox jobs and other cuts under the knife perhaps?

Too bad about the recent divorce, she is elegance personified.

I saw this clip on Bold & Free.  Apparently, according to the blog owner, the was an NBC ad which was to run during the Superbowl but it was withdrawn because the media company did not wish to run advocacy ads.  Oh the things we do in the name of being politically correct!

I hate working on Sun
Sunday, February 22 | 10:23 AM

Occasionally, I have to do makeup lessons on Sunday mornings.  I totally dread that of course.  I dislike the fact that I have to rush back from my breakfast with my family.  I dislike not being able to laze around in bed while catching up on the pre-recorded television series.  I also dislike having to switch to work mode so early in the morning and on a Sunday?!

Well, on the bright side, I will be meeting up with some friends for lunch later and I might just bring Spirte for a walk in town.

In the meantime, while my student was checking up some words in the dictionary, I took some snapshots of my two companions.

This is my coffee/tea maker which I'd bought from a Starbucks outlet in Kuala Lumper during the December holidays.  It comes with a plunger which was exactly what I had been searching for for the longest time.  In fact, up til today, I have not come across this set in any local outlets.

I am trying out this floral tea mixture which I also bought from a Chinese Tea Shop in KL.  It is supposed to have some health properties which I am not aware of - well, it did come with an information sheet except that the text is in Chinese, which I cannot decipher much now...:P

They are dried versions of real flower buds.

Of course, my other faithful companion, Sprite, is lying at my feet and napping like any decent person would do on a Sunday morning.

LOL
Saturday, February 21 | 12:22 PM

So does this make me one with a warm and wacky personality?

You Are LOL

The internet is always cracking you up. You could waste the day away finding things to laugh at.

You're usually the first one to find a new funny video, picture, or website.

You're always up for wasting time online, even if (especially if) you're at work.

You also tend to spend a lot of time chatting, especially with people who make you laugh out loud.

Let me show you around this warm and cosy pad that belongs to a childhood friend of mine.

A circular light casts a fuzzy halo down against the soft brown sifon curtains and the chocolatey leathery-print TV console wall feature.

The shades of cosy brown and orange run throughout the living and dining room.

That is a real cow hide and yes, the soothing twilight city view of Manhatan as a wall feature is a nice cool contrast against the warm colours.

This payphone look alike actually functions as his home phone.

At the dining area, cans and bottles line up the brown shelves.

His apartment is even featured in a local deco magazine last year.

Nonetheless, nothing beats the warm feeling you get when you acquaint yourself with old friends again.

Guys Night Out
| 7:28 AM

A former church friend contacted me to hang out last night.

Together with another, we went in search for a nice place to chill at Dempsey Road.   Too bad I didn't get any pictures of the cool joints and restaurants at that area.  I quite like the ambience at Dempsey where yuppies and the well-heeled go for their meals.  You have to drive to get there thus it is primarily an adults hang-out place.  Having already had dinner at Holland Village hawker center  (where the food is a lot cheaper), we settled with  dessert at Ben & Jerry's.   There we met local celeb couple, Perre and Andrea.  No pictures again.  It was entertaining just watching silly fans going all excited and asking to have their pictures taken with the stars.  They sure look like a great couple together.

All was well for me except that there was no live music playing that night which was one big sore point for all of us.  We deliberated for a long while before someone suggested exploring Mount Faber.

We managed to find our way there relying on impressions and Nokkia maps because my GPS screwed up big time.  The wave bridge was a distance from where I'd parked.  The superbly windy weather was just great to walk, jump and run along it.  But because it was getting rather late, we decided to just walk around to soak in the night scenes.

After several misfires, we finally got all of us into the frame.

Obamicon
Wednesday, February 18 | 8:57 AM

I'm reading backdated papers.  Been busy.  Just when you finally get to meet the great artist behind an iconic work, the encounter involves a scandal.  But then again, artists are usually radical folks right?  Way to go!

Obama 'Hope' poster artist Shepard Fairey arrested
12:21 PM, February 7, 2009

What a roller-coaster ride it's been for artist Shepard Fairey.

Los Angeles has been familiar with the street artist's work for some time, but for the rest of the nation, Fairey became an "overnight success" through his Obama "Hope" poster.

Last month, the National Portrait Gallery added Fairey's Obama portrait to its collection.

Life was good. Posters selling for big bucks. Museum validation.

Then last week the Associated Press accused Fairey of copyright infringement, saying the poster image was based on one of its photos, taken in April 2006 by Manny Garcia on assignment for the AP at the National Press Club in Washington.

Today comes word that the artist was arrested in Boston last night, on warrants accusing him of tagging. Fairey was detained en route to a party at Boston's Institute of Contemporary Art, which is presenting "Supply and Demand," the first solo exhibition of the 38-year-old artist's work. Read what happened here.

Culture Monster will keep you posted on any other developments.

love what she brings
Tuesday, February 17 | 8:29 PM

walking with Sprite to Toa Payoh Central
love what she brings
to the morning rush hour -
the surprised looks;
the amusement and giggles;
the "awwwww....so cute"s;
the light-ups in kids' eyes;
- sometimes adults' too;
you learn to disregard those ignorant stares
her wagging tail's more adorable
her enthusiasm about everything
is simply infectious.

I work okay!
Monday, February 16 | 11:12 PM

This is for those of you who think I don't work except bum around the pool, my L-shaped sofa and my Queen-size bed.

That is my desk above at my workplace which I report to 3 times a week in the mornings.  There I mind kids from 13 to 17 years of age.  Among my colleagues, we always joke that we spend more time with the kids in school than most of their parents actually do.  Well, that's modern city lifestyle commitment for you.

Anyway, this morning, I got inspired to put up some photos and posters to decorate the drab looking board facing me.  I also brought in this mini-fridge spotting a Windows Office logo and a loud  pink body - well, I got this free when I bought my XBox360 last year and was expecting a blue shade for the shell.  Imagine my shock when I saw the pink!  Sitting beside it,you can catch a peek of the severely under-utilised basketball.  Yes, that's a tin of lollipops which I use occasionally to bribe my charges.  Those drink bottles near that green box?  They are for a wacky warm-up game called Big Gulp which I play with the classes I meet.

So there you have it!  My workdesk at my workplace.

P.S.  I also work in the afternoons til late evenings on most days as well!

4 women
Sunday, February 15 | 4:46 PM

Okay, so it's the Valentine's weekend.  As usual, I swear not to let the retail owners laugh all the way to the bank.  So I'd decided to spend it with my baby at home.  She's still a little needy and when she sleeps on my lap, it just makes my crazy world go into that zen state which you get in the eye of a storm.

I thoroughly washed all three toilets today.  It took me approximately two hours in all which is a vast improvement compared to the last time when I took the same time to wash two toilets!  I'm still wondering if I should hire a part-time helper to come in to do the housework and save the time for more socialising and chilling out.  Right now, I am managing all right with Sprite, work and chores.  So we'll see how things progress.

After the massive workout with 5 different bottles of chemicals in the wild wet world, I did 10 laps in the pool  and sat by one of the deck chairs  to enjoy the glorious afternoon sun while trying to make progress on "Successful Dog Adoption" (I have 6 other books on the canine world which I was supposed to have completed by February).  I tried not to be distracted by a member of the opposite sex who lay there looking really nice and very tanned.  Haha.  Work has been really busy.  While getting the tan, I realised that I had left all the detergents in a pail on the kitchen floor where Sprite was confined.  I imagined her chewing up the bottles and then me returning to see her lifeless body on the floor and foaming at her mouth.  Guilt got the better of me and I left my stuff at the pool and hurried up to seek forgiveness.  Fortunately, there was no tragedy but I was really careless.

This weekend was totally fruitful.  I've had to miss a dinner appointment yesterday due to some separation issues with Sprite.  This evening, I deserve a great meal.  I'm off to meet a friend.  Anyway, here's something funny (albeit sexist) I came across this on Archies Archive the other day...

FIVE RULES FOR MEN TO FOLLOW TO A HAPPY LIFE:

1. It’s important to have a woman, who helps at home, who cooks from time to time, cleans up and has a job.

2. It’s important to have a woman, who can make you laugh.

3. It’s important to have a woman, whom you can trust and who doesn’t lie to you.

4. It’s important to have a woman, who is good in bed and who likes to be with you.

5. It’s very, very important that these four women do not know each other.

navigating

Nautical - of, relating to, or characteristic of ships, shipping, sailors, or navigation on a body of water.

Pulau Ubin, 2001.  A couple of us biked to the spot near the mangrove swamp area where one female student had drowned during a freak accident.  I understand that the makeshift float her group had made was unstable and she had somehow ended up in the waters.  She was then sucked underwater due to the strong undercurrents created by these water gates used to divert water.  This fatal accident rocked the little nation of Singapore then due to safety lapses in a school activity and also because the girl had come from a top college.

Awestruck by the sounds of surging waters,  we were enjoying the solemn moment as I narrated the incident to my friends.  What caught us by surprise was the sighting of this make-shift floating house/boat a little distance away.  It must be riding on the fast waters from the water gates.  I wondered where the captain was navigating the intriguing creation to...

I need Ripplevox to give me a Nokia Comes With Music device with StarHub’s MaxMobile data service because I want, I crave, I desire the free unlimited downloads to the millions of tracks available in the Nokia Music Store for an entire year. And the best part, I get to keep (REPEAT) KEEP all the music I downloaded!

I hope I get to keep the Nokia 5800 or Nokia N85 after the trial... :)

Okay, if you intend to leech off my free tracks after reading this, you better be nice and  $uper loaded to pay the fines!  Haha!

real strawberries within!

This brand of cereal contains real strawberries and in large quantities too.

I bought like 5 boxes on 2 separate occasions to last me for awhile because of a discount they are offering in the supermarket.  Costing over $8 previously, I paid $5.95 for each box during the offer at NTUC.  What a steal!

one convertee!
Wednesday, February 11 | 8:56 AM

Remember Hiojin?  The boy I had written about and who was bitten by his cousin's dog during the Chinese New Year period?   He came to me last week still terrified of being even at an arm length's distance from Spirte, my Jack Russell.

So we made a pact to try to overcome his fear of dogs.

His body language - legs crossed and placed on the chair - is clear - he was still fearful of going near Sprite who is simply minding her own business on the floor.

After some encourgement, HioJin offered to to pat her on the head.  Sprite yawned as if to say, "Surely I expect more than that from you!"

Being the ever friendly spirit that she is, she put her feet onto HioJin's chair in Oliver Twist manner, "I want...more?"

The boy was scared still.  Throughout the lesson, Sprite would play the Abassador-To-All Friendly-Dogs occasionally to win HioJin over.

"Come play with me!"

Hiojin, of course, had work to do.   In fact, we were working on draft 2 of the composition he wrote last week on the nasty dog bite incident.

At the end of the lesson, after a reward of a sweet and Sprite's numerous affectionate licks, HioJin was able to get off his chair and offer a more thorough rubdown to the canine.

He even agreed to carry Sprite for a picture!   What a breakthrough!

Another satisfied customer and dog converteee!

Sorely MISSED...

...buttery and heavenly pineapple tarts made by one of my student's mom - together with another tub by my contractor, I ate one layer daily during the Chinese New Year period.  His sister calculated that each tart carried 55 calories.  My philosophy - this happens only once a year so JUST EAT IT!

...tender and flavoury kueh lapis crafted by my sister-in-law's family. Once, I ate only this for a meal.

pink cow approaching bridge!
Saturday, February 7 | 10:40 AM

I told myself I will have to take a picture the next time I come across it. True enough, along the same stretch near where I live, I saw the pink moomoo again!

I prayed for the traffic lights to turn red at the junction and sure enough, it did! The setting was perfect for me to get out of the vehicle, whisk out my camera and take a picture. But that would be too risky.  So I manoevred my van to the back of the pink cab and snapped my picture.

Kyle XY
Friday, February 6 | 11:13 AM

My list of TV series which I follow is burgeoning while I am finding it harder to keep up with my schedule.

A recent favourite is the critically acclaimed sci-fi series, Kyle XY.

The more they look for answers, the more questions aris.
images from abcfamily

Here's a synopsis of the pilot episode from
Kylexy.net.

1.01 - Pilot
Original Airdate: Monday June 26, 2006 (USA)
Writer: Eric Bress, J. Mackye Gruber
Director: Gil Junger

KYLE XY is an incredible mystery about a teenager with no past. The series tells the surprising journey of Kyle (Dallas), a 16 year-old teenage savant who is missing instinctive human behavior such as anger, joy and love, and the family who found him. After coming out of the woods and found walking into traffic, Kyle is sent to a youth detention center where he comes into contact with his first experience of eating food and human interaction: not all of it friendly. At the center they realize that Kyle is not like any ordinary teenager, especially once they find that he is missing his belly-button. With questions of Who is this kid? and Where did he come from? psychologist Nicole Trager (MacIntyre) is called in to help get some much needed answers. After a couple of hours with Kyle, Nicole realizes that he can not survive in the institution and needs special attention, so she decides to bring him home to keep a closer eye on him. The rest of the Trager family is not as welcoming of Kyle, seeing him as just another one of Nicoles special projects. Her husband Stephen (Thomas) doesnt want his wife to get too attached to Kyle, while her teenage daughter Lori (Matson) and son Josh (Bilodeau) see him as a freak that can only hamper their social lives.

Soon the family starts to see that Kyle has some unique abilities and an uncanny way of completing two hour IQ tests in 5 minutes with perfect scores. He encounters everyday activities such as video games, drawing and music with a wide-eyed wonder and a thirst for more knowledge. He also starts to grow fond of the Trager family and even rescues Lori from a high school party that gets dangerously out of hand.

His missing bellybutton tell of his mysterious but unique birth.

As he settles in with the Trager family the question still remains, who is Kyle? What are his secrets, secrets that even he doesnt understand? Why doesnt he have a belly button? Why cant he remember anything from his past? Is he suffering from some sort of post-traumatic stress? If not, is he suffering from amnesia? And who is the suspicious looking man following him?

Yes, Kyle sleeps in a tub.

I've completed watching season 1 on my hubstation yesterday - not in one sitting of course! When I was about to begin Season 2, I realised that I was missing episodes 1-13! Apparently, the hardisk space had ran out because I haven't had time to clear my recordings on the recorder. Darn! With the new dog (temporarily named Sprite) in my life and my work schedule still in flux, I guess catching up on my TV recordings would be a challenge.
New to the world, Kyle looks at everything with wonder.

Anyway, if you enjoy watching sci-fi flicks like Heroes or Roswell, you might want to give Kyle XY a click on your remote. For Singapore viewers, you can catch the second season of this series daily on Starhub Cable Channel 18, StarWorld.

shame! shame?
| 11:01 AM

The local paper, TODAY, had a field day reporting on some athletes' misadventures on 2/2. Here's the first one :

Local athletes, sports officials split on TAS ban for triathletes

Former Singapore sprint star U K Shyam won a silver in the men’s 100m at the 2001 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur.

Now retired, the 32-year-old feels the punishment meted out by the Triathlon Association of Singapore (TAS) on triathletes Mok Ying Ren, 20, and Dinah Chan, 22, was too harsh.

The two triathletes were slapped with a ban from competition for a unspecified time after being caught alone together in a hotel room at the Asian Beach Games in Bali last October.

The TAS’ code of conduct required hotel room doors to be kept open a visitor of the opposite sex was present.  Room sharing between male and female athletes is not allowed.

Shyam, who has been to four SEA Games and is the national 100m recordholder, said yesterday: “I think it was definitely too harsh. As long as they were not doing anything inappropriate, I think a verbal warning would have sufficed.

“We don’t have that many athletes to begin with, why stop the from competing? They’re not professionals, and are already sacrificing so much to compete.”  An ex-national swimmer, who has competed at the Olympics and is a multi-gold medallist at the SEA Games, revealed that such incidents do occur at multi-event Games, but the parties involved were never caught.

“I don’t think we can turn a blind eye to such things, but we need to be more understanding, especially if the competition is over,” he said, speaking on condition of anonymity. “But for this to happen before the competition ends is a definite no-no. If the TAS sees fit to ban them, they need to specify the duration and what the ban is for.

“It’s only fair to be specific.”

While athletes call for understanding, sports officials and administrators insist rules have to be followed.

Former world champion Sheik Alau’ddin has represented the country many times and is now chief executive director of the Singapore Silat Federation.  The federation does not allow male athletes to visit female athletes in their rooms and vice versa.

Addressing the case of the two triathletes, Sheik said: “If they were in the room and the door was closed, then it’s serious.  They’re not on holiday, they’re there to represent the country. “If they want to chat they can do it in the common area, not in the room.”

The Singapore Sports School have sent teams to Thailand over the last five years for the Thailand Sports School Games.

The school’s director of sports, Dr Irwin Seet, says there is no compromise as far as the rules go.

“We take a very strict view on this because we’re dealing with minors, and the athletes are briefed on the rules prior to leaving,” he said. “The school places boys on one floor and girls on another.

They are not allowed on each other’s floors, with members of the staff present on each floor as chaperones.”

As for Mok and Chan, Dr Seet said: “Before embarking on a trip to represent the country, if they have been clearly briefed on the code of conduct and don’t adhere to it, they will inevitably have to face the repercussions.”

Another national athlete, who declined to be named, felt age had to be a consideration.  Said the athlete: “If they are 14 or 15-year-olds, then we need to be concerned, but they’re adults.”

Embedded in the above article is a picture of both Chan and Mok.  Yes, their actions have led to conseqences in the form of the ban (to what extent only time will time) which, in my opinion, suffices as a punishment.  BUT why print their pictures?  To shame them?  While I understand that that may serve as a deterrent to the public and athletes in particular, WHY PUBLISH THEIR IDENTITIES FOR THE WHOLE WORLD TO SEE?  It's not as if they are crooks or terrorists we should be wary of?!!

Phelps admits ‘bad behaviour’ after he is shown smoking cannabis

TAMPA (Florida) — Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps admitted yesterday that he had engaged in “regrettable” behaviour and “demonstrated bad judgment” after a photograph was published that appeared to show him smoking cannabis.

A British newspaper, the News of the World, published the photo allegedly showing the multiple Olympic gold medal-winner inhaling from a glass pipe which is generally used to smoke the drug.
“I engaged in behaviour which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment,”
Phelps said in a statement.

“I’m 23 years old, and despite the successes I have had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner that people have come to expect from me.  For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again.”

The newspaper said the picture was taken on Nov 6, almost three months after Phelps won an historic eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics, when he went to a party at the University of South Carolina.

The paper claimed he was visiting Ms Jordan Matthews, a girl he was secretly dating who was a student at the university, and threw himself into a series of parties in houses and bars.

The photograph shows Phelps, wearing a white T-shirt and a baseball cap back to front, holding the pipe — known as a bong — to his lips and apparently inhaling.

The tabloid quoted a party-goer as saying: “You could tell Michael had smoked before. He grabbed the bong and a lighter and knew exactly what to do. He looked just as natural with a bong in his hands as he does swimming in the pool. He was the gold medal winner of bong hits.”
He added: “Michael ended up getting a little paranoid, though, because before too long he looked like he was nervous and ran out of the place.”

Phelps was recently named the US Olympic Committee Sportsman of the Year for making Olympic history in Beijing by collecting the most golds won by any athlete at a single Olympics, giving him a career total of 14 golds. He also set seven world records in Beijing.

The greatest swimmer of all times made the smart move to apologise to the public for his misdeamer before the situation gets any worse.  So they say, the higher you are, the further you fall.  All it takes is a little discretion like smoking cannabis at a friend's party.  Then again, unlike the 2 triathletes above, he has earned enough from his gold tallies and endorsement deals to see him through a few generations over.

I was just teaching a S1 (first year) class a Getting-Your-Attention routine.  They responded very well except for one individual who was distracted despite several reminders.  After singling him out and reminding him of the appropriate behaviour, I asked for his name.

His response?  - Stanley.

I did not know whether to laugh or to cry then.  But I burst out laughing anyway.  Some kids guessed right away what my name is before I had even introduced myself fully to them.

you touch the core of confusion

I'm TAB

You Are "tab"

Some people might try to say that you're always spaced out.

You do tend to be a dreamer, but you're also a great multitasker.

You work quickly and efficiently. So it's no problem if you goof off a little while you're working.

And if people want to think you're flakey, that's fine. You're getting more done than they are.
